Flea markets are one of the rare bazaars that preserve their contents. The name 'Bit Pazarı' (flea market in turkish) , have numerous hearsays about it's name, comes from 'bat' bazaar meaning 'stale' in Ottaman Turkish, where used, second hand stuffs are sold. According to another hearsay, it's name stayed 'Bit Pazarı' due to some insects coming off the wares like bed bugs and louses. These bazaars are the place where the fondly used dresses, furnitures, accessories or toys are sold by other people and also can be seen a recycling points for the consumptive society. Or a hobby bazaar for some others. You can find a record for your collection or a lost lid for your teapot. The most important features of flea markets are its cheapness and bargaining on selling. Generally the clerks are not like usual bazaar clerks.In the flea markets It's possible to find unused stuff beside the used ones in this bazaar where people with small incomes who have intense interest. This bazaar, set up on sunday have a special state for Izmir. It's one of the biggest flea bazaars in Turkey. It has also became a popular bazaar with it's visitors coming from other cities. But the people who open their stands every week in the same point are a little annoyed. Due to continuous changes in their place by the municipality and be shown to move to bad conditioned places, they are forced to make their sale in dust and mud. But wherever it  opens, it is certain that the demand by collectors and people with low incomes will be the same.
